Hello everyone!
I know things are tough all over the world right now. In a world where the future is so uncertain, it’s easy to experience some anxiety. One encouraging passage that keeps going through my head is this from Matthew:
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
It’s easy to get anxious and worried about the future and about things we can’t control. This passage is a lovely reminder that God holds our future, and He wants to take care of us! The future is uncertain but our God is good. If He takes care of the birds in the sky and the flowers in the field, then of course He will take care of us as well.
I understand that now is not ideal time to be fundraising. I know not everyone is in a place to give financially when things are so shaky with jobs and money. There have been so many ways I’ve been getting support and it truly means the world! Whether it’s praying for my journey, donating to my trip, following along with my blog… It all means so much! 🙂
When things open back up again, it’ll be so important to send out more missionaries to show the love of Jesus. This fundraising journey is difficult, but it’s an amazing reminder to trust in the Lord and lean on His provisions. I can’t and won’t do it all on my own. Only God can make it happen. The money will come and the trip will come, but If I forget to look at this preparation as part of the process, I will miss out on God’s goodness. God is leading me into a life of missions and this is the first step in trusting Him. I know that if this is something God is calling me to, then He will provide.
Like the birds and the flowers, God wants to take care of us. We just need to let go of control and let God take over. I promise His plans will be better than anything we could come up with ourselves!
Stay strong & stay safe. And remember to look for the ways that God has already provided during this crazy time.
